Rep. Castor: My Office is Open for Business and Here to Help Tampa Bay Neighbors

House Democrats Begin 118th Congress United, Ready to Get to Work

Today, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) reassured her neighbors that she and her office are open for business and working to serve Florida’s 14th Congressional District in all federal matters despite the failure of Republicans in Congress to organize and swear in members.

“My office is open for business to serve and support my Tampa Bay neighbors on federal matters including veterans benefits, Medicare, Social Security despite the inability of House Republicans to organize the 118th Congress. This includes the new parts of our district in St. Petersburg.

“Last year, Team Castor returned $10M owed to constituents by Social Security, Medicare, IRS and more.

“Just this week, my team secured an IRS tax refund of $1,062 for a constituent who said they called the agency 50 times to no avail. We are proud to work and deliver for Tampa Bay seniors, veterans, small businesses and families.

“For the first time in 100 years, the House of Representatives has been unable to organize and swear in members for multiple days. The inability of Republicans to govern is sad for democracy and sad for the American people. Our neighbors deserve a Congress that works for them, not one mired in endless chaos, confusion and crisis. Due to the dysfunction, it’s important to get the word out that our neighbors can call my team at 813-871-2817 for help on a federal matter. You can check out the new district boundaries here.

One of the most important things U.S. Representatives do is help people with federal problems. Although they cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, they can often intervene on a person's behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape.
