U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) alerted the Hillsborough County School Board of how the new Florida law known as House Bill (HB) 7069 runs afoul of federal law, specifically concerning Title I provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) alerted the Hillsborough County School Board of how the new Florida law known as House Bill (HB) 7069 runs afoul of federal law, specifically concerning Title I provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

“The new law will have serious consequences for Florida’s public school students, our schools and all Floridians,” U.S. Rep. Castor wrote in a letter to Hillsborough County School Board Members.

“I understand that other school districts and educators are considering legal challenges to the troubling provisions of HB 7069 and I hope my insight on certain federal Title I provisions is helpful as you consider the same.”

Earlier this summer, U.S. Rep. Castor was joined by several members of the Hillsborough County School Board, as well as a group of parents and educators that put our children before politics, to sound the alarm on the HB 7069, passed by the Florida Legislature, that diverts public tax dollars away from public schools to private corporations.
