WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14) released the following statement upon passage of a resolution in support of Israel’s right to defend itself and condemning Hamas and other terrorist organizations.

"I stand with Israel and the Jewish people in the wake of the barbaric attack by Hamas terrorists. I am deeply saddened by the brutal murders, rapes and hostage-taking of innocent people. I pray for all of those who've been injured and for all the innocent people in harm's way.

“In the coming days, the Congress will consider approving additional security assistance to Israel, humanitarian aid for the innocent people in Gaza and other critical needs. It is in the national security interests of the United States to work to prevent escalation of a wider war as President Biden works to free hostages and provide safe passage for critical supplies.”

H.Res. 771 passed the House of Representatives with overwhelming bipartisan support, including every member of Florida’s Congressional Delegation.
