Florida Dems to Gov. DeSantis: Act Now to Keep Costs Down and Keep Floridians Covered During Medicaid Redetermination

Today, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor led all Florida Congressional Democrats in urging Governor Ron DeSantis to take action to keep costs down and keep Floridians covered during the Medicaid redetermination period. Congress acted during the Covid19 pandemic to ensure that Medicaid beneficiaries would not lose health coverage, but beginning on April 1, the state must redetermine eligibility for over 5.6 million Floridians currently covered by Medicaid. Any gap in health coverage can be devastating and expensive, so it is critical that Governor DeSantis takes further steps to prevent a mass disenrollment of children, postpartum parents, individuals in the midst of complex care, such as chemotherapy or other treatment, and other Floridians.

The Members wrote Governor DeSantis in March 2022 urging him to ensure that children stay connected to health care when the public health emergency ends.
