Rep. Castor Named Top Democrat on Energy and Commerce’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee

Today, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) was named the Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s powerful Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

Castor, who has served on the committee since 2009, will lead House Democrats’ on oversight matters related to health care, the environment and other key priorities for her district and the American people. The subcommittee wields investigative authority over federal agencies in the committee’s far-reaching jurisdiction including the Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control , the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration.

“After serving as Chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis for four years with significant accomplishments in partnership with President Joe Biden, I am ready to take on the new role to lower costs for consumers, make historic strides towards the clean energy future, expand access to affordable health care and more. I am committed to continuing our progress for the American people while conducting crucial oversight of federal agencies,” said Castor.

In addition to serving as Ranking Member for the Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee, Castor also was named as a senior member of the Energy, Climate & Grid Security Subcommittee, and the Innovation, Data & Commerce Subcommittee today where she will continue in her work protecting children online and building online privacy protections.
