Rep. Castor Statement on Bipartisan Discussion Draft of Privacy Legislation
Washington,
June 4, 2022
“This is a good day for parents, advocates and legislators who have been working to shore up online privacy protections for children. Americans expect their private information to be protected, and it is refreshing to see bipartisan work in Congress toward that goal. I am pleased to see important parts of my “Protecting the Information of our Vulnerable Children and Youth Act” (Kids PRIVCY Act) included in the discussion draft. We must ensure that children are not tracked and targeted and reduce the mental and physical harm to kids due to online dangers. COPPA is long overdue for an update, and I look forward to playing an active role in improving the discussion draft and championing the interests of families and the well-being of children online.” |
