U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) released the below statement following the release of President Joe Biden’s proposed budget: “President Biden’s budget meets this urgent moment and provides the resources needed to help communities, families, schools and businesses recover and thrive in the days ahead. Following an infusion of federal Covid-19 aid that served as a bridge for struggling communities, the President’s request aims to invest in working families and get our neighbors back to work, create good-paying jobs and the modern, resilient infrastructure that will move us into the 21st century. It is a forward-looking proposal that will rebuild our economy, lift families and boost American competitiveness. “President Biden’s budget will also make further progress on unleashing the potential of the clean energy economy. By investing in clean energy and doubling down on initiatives like expanding lower-cost solar power, replacing lead water pipes and making the shift towards electric vehicles, the President is ready to put Americans to work in good-paying jobs that will help us reduce pollution, safeguard public health, and ensure justice for underserved communities. “Now is the time to chart a new course for growth by investing in our nation and our people in a way that has not occurred in 60 years – the American Jobs Plan and American Families Plan, two pillars of this budget request, will allow us to do just that. I look forward to working with President Biden to pass a budget that fosters American prosperity, innovation and opportunity.” President Biden’s budget can be found here.
