U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL) released the following statement on the House vote to funds DHS:
“Republicans in Congress have finally awakened to the fact that the security of American families is paramount to politics. Our continued pressure on the House GOP and Speaker Boehner turned the tide. The Department of Homeland Security is likely to be funded in full – through a clean bill – this week. DHS is of particular concern to our neighbors across Florida – families need to know they are safe and can travel without long lines and security concerns. The work of DHS fosters and facilitates travel for so many of our visitors, plus keeps the TSA and Coast Guard fully focused on their important missions.” |
