U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor announced today two grants awarded to the University of South Florida through the Affordable Care Act. The money will lead to jobs and scholarships at the university.

"Now that the Affordable Care Act has been ruled constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court, important implementing provisions will boost jobs and scholarships at USF and other academic institutions across the country,” Castor said. “Such grants will improve the health care workforce for Floridians.”

USF is receiving more than $150,000 through the Nurse Faculty Loan initiative. This initiative assists registered nurses in completing their graduate education to become qualified nurse faculty. Partial loan forgiveness is offered to borrowers who graduate and serve as full-time nursing faculty.

USF also is receiving more than $30,000 through the Nurse Anesthetist Traineeship initiative, which supports traineeships at eligible institutions for licensed registered nurses enrolled as full-time students in their second year of a two-year nurse anesthetist master’s program.
