Congresswoman intends to offer amendment so hurricane predictions remain accurate and timely

Please see the attached letter from Rep. Kathy Castor to the Speaker of the House and chairs of the House Appropriations Committee regarding her intent to offer an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations bill to restore funding for the Hurricane Hunters aircraft operations. The Hurricane Hunters operation, with flights regularly originating from MacDill Air Force Base, is facing a 40 percent budget cut, from $29 million to $17 million. The cuts are part of the GOP Commerce, Justice and Science Appropriations bill which passed in July and expected to come to the floor this fall.
