WORLD CUP RESOLUTION OVERWHELMINGLY PASSES HOUSE

Last night, a resolution introduced by co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14), Rep. Darin LaHood (IL-18), Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02), and Rep. Ruben Kihuen (NV-04) passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 392 to 3. This resolution, H.Con.Res. 111, expresses the House of Representative’s support for North America’s united bid to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

A member of my hometown of Tampa and the state of Florida’s Greatest Generation, Judge Danahy is one of the longest-serving members on Florida’s Second District Court of Appeals. As a legislator, judge, and assistant Attorney General, Judge Danahy earned a reputation for working tirelessly when providing service to others, and for “gaining the respect of all with whom he served.”

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-N.M.) and U.S. Representative Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) led a group of 170 members of Congress in introducing companion resolutions in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives formally calling on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt to resign. The resolution comes in response to Pruitt’s repeated ethics violations, misuse of taxpayer dollars, and actions that fundamentally undermine the mission of the EPA – favoring big polluters at the expense of science, our environment, and the health of children and families.
