Congresswoman Castor (FL-11) is proactively seeking comments from parents, teachers, businesses and students.
United States Representative Kathy Castor (D-FL11) announced today the posting of the discussion draft of the No Child Left Behind reform bill on her website (http://castor.house.gov) and the U.S. House Committee on Education and Labor’s website (http://edlabor.house.gov/). Congresswoman Castor (FL-11) is proactively seeking comments from parents, teachers, businesses and students. Comments may be sent via email to kathy.castor@mail.house.gov or by mail to 4144 N. Armenia Ave, Suite 300, Tampa, FL 33607. “We must address the achievement gap and broaden our accountability measures. The reliance on one test on one day to grade students, teachers and schools is overly simplistic and is not working. I will stand up for significant reform to ensure that we improve our public schools and provide students with the tools they need to succeed,” said Castor. Congressman George Miller, Chairman of the Committee on Education and Labor, visited Tampa on Monday at Castor’s request to listen to local teachers, parents and educators regarding their experiences with the No Child Left Behind law. Tampa Bay educators became the first in the country to hear Miller’s announcement of the new reform discussion draft and proposed schedule for the bill’s consideration next month. |
