Coronavirus Vaccination Information in Hillsborough County

Hillsborough County’s first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination distribution is targeted to frontline health care workers and senior citizens.

Aged 65 and Over: Hillsborough County began scheduling appointments for residents 65 and over with extended call center hours. The Hillsborough County COVID-19 vaccine appointment call center has filled all available vaccine appointments for the week of Jan. 11 and is now closed. Additional appointments are expected next week, and you can visit the county’s website for updates. In addition, the State of Florida and Hillsborough County have partnered to identify local drive-thru vaccination sites and Hillsborough County operate mobile vaccination units for transportation-challenged seniors – these have not opened.

Veterans: James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital has already begun to vaccinate frontline workers and high-risk patients in the hospital. The vaccine is available now by appointment only to veterans 75 years and older at the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, Primary Care Annex (Hidden River), New Port Ritchey and South Hillsborough locations. All veterans who wish to get the vaccine from the VA will need to notify their primary physician who will pass this information on to Haley and will be notified when an appointment is available.

USF Employees: The University of South Florida announced Thursday, January 7 it will begin administering coronavirus vaccine to eligible faculty and staff through a partnership with the Hillsborough County Department of Health.

To be eligible, university employees must be age 65 or older, but a survey was sent to all faculty to gauge interest in the vaccine as well as members of their immediate households when additional doses become available.

The vaccine will be free and administered at the USF Health Morsani Center for Advanced Health Care by appointment only. Additional locations will be opened later.
