Castor Announces $692k Small Shipyard Grant for the Gulf Marine Repair Corporation

Today, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded the Gulf Marine Repair a $692,100 Maritime Administration (MARAD) Small Shipyard Grant. The Maritime Administration's Small Shipyard Grant Program is designed to support small shipyard projects that make capital and related improvements or provide training for workers in shipbuilding, ship repair, and associated industries.

"Our Port Tampa Bay shipyards, including Gulf Marine Repair, keep the economy moving and provide good-paying jobs, so I'm pleased to announce a sizable shipyard grant for Gulf Marine Repair," said Castor.  "This grant will be used to purchase a CNC plasma cutting machine and a 100-ton rough terrain crane. The new equipment will allow Gulf Marine Repair to continue servicing the commercial and military vessels that keep our economy strong and nation safe. In Congress, I will continue working to provide critical investments and resources for our local businesses and workers in critical industries."
