Today, U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14), Vice Ranking Member of the Energy & Commerce Committee, offered an amendment to H.R. 806, a Republican bill that proposes to roll back 50-year-old Clean Air Act protections. Castor's amendment sought to protect children, older and vulnerable Americans from the Republican delay of critical smog standards at the EPA. This week has been filled with Republican actions to strip health protections that have served Americans well for decades. The Senate version of Trumpcare, introduced this week, would have ripped some $800 billion away from children, seniors and pregnant women – Medicaid protections, which are another 50 year old compact with Americans.
