Congresswoman Kathy Castor announced today that two Tampa Bay area housing counseling agencies are receiving money to provide counseling to families facing foreclosure. The money comes from the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling initiative.

The Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa is receiving $68,760. The Tampa Bay Community Development Corporation is receiving $75,060. In addition to these Tampa Bay area agencies, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation is receiving nearly $1.9 million.

“Our local CDCs and the Florida Housing Finance Corporation are dedicated to helping our neighbors who are facing foreclosure,” Castor said. “I have held six foreclosure prevention assistance workshops and have seen first-hand that homeowners want to pay their mortgages and stay in their homes but sometimes need just a little extra breathing room. Housing counselors can directly help our neighbors get back on track.”
