House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) announced in February 2021 that the House of Representatives will accept Member requests for Community Project Funding in appropriations bills for the upcoming fiscal year. Community Projects Funding are congressional provisions that direct funds toward a specific project within a community. Community Project Funding allows Members to put their deep, first-hand understanding of the needs of their communities to work to help the people we represent and will make Congress more responsive to the people.
Each Member is limited to no more than 10 Community Project Funding requests across all subcommittees for Fiscal Year 2022 and there is no guarantee that all requested projects will be funded.The FY2022 CPF process has a limited scope with combined earmarks capped at 1% of all discretionary spending and eligible accounts restricted to those listed in the table below. Projects are restricted to a limited number of federal funding streams, and only state and local governments and eligible non-profit entities are permitted to receive funding.The request period for FY2022 has closed.

AI/Machine Learning to Accelerate Cancer Research – H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute
· This funding will be used to leverage already existing data and allow scientists at Moffitt to translate greater understanding of the complexities of cancer into novel prevention, early detection and treatment to help improve outcomes for cancer patients throughout the U.S.

COPS Technology Enhancements (Digital Storage of Body Cam footage) – the City of Tampa
· The new technology that will be acquired by this funding will provide the tools needed to improve access to body worn camera data for Tampa Police Department staff and the public, and will ensure that critical data is uploaded and evaluated as quickly as possible at the scene of an incident.
