U.S. Rep. Castor Statement on Biden Admin’s Announcement of $20B to Jumpstart Investment in Clean Energy & Climate Solutions

TAMPA, FL – U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14) released the below statement following the Biden Administration’s announcement of $20 billion in grant awards from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Inflation Reduction Act’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF):

“To help our neighbors save money, Congress and President Biden are investing more in local resilience and cleaner, cheaper energy. A lack of upfront financing can be a challenge for solar and energy efficiency, especially in low-income and disadvantaged areas.

“That’s why the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis recommended the creation of a national green bank to jumpstart investments in clean energy by providing affordable financing and leveraging private sector investments. These clean energy initiatives will support families and businesses around the country who are eager to find relief on their electricity bills. They’ll also slash harmful air pollution and help make our communities more resilient to extreme weather caused by the heating climate.

“Today’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund announcement by President Biden and the EPA is a major step to ensure that Americans reap the cost-savings and environmental and health benefits they deserve.”
