It’s heartening to hear how many neighbors appreciate the cost-savings and progress as we mark the two-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS and Science Act and the PACT Act for veterans. We need to do more however to ensure that neighbors not only have what they need to get by but can get ahead. Doing so requires leaders who will put people over politics and stand up to the big drug companies and other special interests. Please read my Tampa Bay Times op-ed thanking President Biden for his work to lift up all Americans. The Tampa Bay area has benefited from his leadership on infrastructure, veterans health and cost-saving laws.

BRIDGING THE DIGITAL DIVIDE IN THE TAMPA BAY AREA!

Now more than ever, every aspect of our lives is digital - access to health care services, job searches, and even for students to complete their homework – everyone needs affordable internet services and digital literacy.

So I was pleased to cheer on Boys and Girls Clubs and AT&T for their partnership to invest technology and computer labs for students at local clubs across the Tampa Bay area. We celebrated at the Freddie Solomon Club at Nuccio Park near East Tampa. I am grateful for the work of the Boys and Girls Clubs to make sure our kids' futures are bright and successful!

SWELTERING SUMMERS

We are all feeling the heat this summer – it is literally record-breaking. Tampa Family Health Centers and the Farmworker Association of Florida helped me relay life-saving tips to stay cool while I called on OSHA to finalize heat protection standards so our outdoor workers are safe and healthy.

Remember these important tips if you are outside:

Drink water every 15 minutes.
Find shade!
If you feel weak or dizzy, immediately head inside to cool off with a cold towel.
