New Goal Would Make Half Of All Vehicles Sold In 2030 Zero-Emission

WASHINGTON - On Thursday, Chair Kathy Castor of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis released the following statement as President Biden announced new fuel efficiency standards and a target to make half of all new vehicles sold zero-emissions vehicles by 2030:

“Investing in clean cars and trucks is a win-win for America. Today’s announcement will support good-paying union jobs, save consumers money, and help solve the climate crisis,” said Chair Castor. “President Biden’s new target makes progress on our Climate Crisis Action Plan's goal of decarbonizing the transportation sector and is a vital step towards ensuring the zero-emissions vehicles of the future are built right here in America. With historic investments in American manufacturing and a nationwide network of charging stations through the American Jobs Plan and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, the United States can be the world leader in electric vehicles. I look forward to working with President Biden, auto companies, and union workers to achieve these milestones and deliver additional action that meets the scale of the climate crisis.”
