U.S. Rep. Castor Celebrates Tampa Immigrants with American Dream Awards

“While President Donald Trump remains mired in controversy over the racist spectacle in Charlottesville and his failure to disavow the support of neo-Nazis, the KKK and white supremacists, I awarded American Dream Awards to a diverse and inspirational group of Tampa immigrants who truly reflect the values of America," said U.S. Rep. Castor.

Please see the attached list and bios of the recipients of the American Dream Awards, which were awarded yesterday by  U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor during her town hall meeting. In addition, U.S. Rep. Castor issued the following statement:

“While President Donald Trump remains mired in controversy over the racist spectacle in Charlottesville and his failure to disavow the support of neo-Nazis, the KKK and white supremacists, I awarded American Dream Awards to a diverse and inspirational group of Tampa immigrants who truly reflect the values of America," said U.S. Rep. Castor.  “Our history and economic success are built on the contributions of immigrants and people of many races and backgrounds.  Although the President has spoken harshly against immigrants, refugees and so many others, Tampa Bay is united in celebrating the great contributions of immigrants to our region for more than a century.  Recipients of my American Dream Awards are our everyday neighbors who have also excelled in fields of education, media, health care and business.  The American Dream Awards were presented on the fifth anniversary of DACA as a reminder that the lives of our Dream Act students hang in the balance as we await word from the Trump Administration on whether or not they will renew DACA over the next couple of weeks."
