Castor & Democrats Vote to Avoid THIRD MAGA Republican Shutdown Threat Since September Deadline

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL-14) released the following statement after voting to pass a bipartisan Continuing Resolution to avoid a damaging government shutdown:

“Today, Congressional Democrats voted to pass a third Continuing Resolution (CR) that avoids a harmful government shutdown while nearly half of House Republicans voted ‘no.’ Shutdown threats and months of obstruction by extreme MAGA Republicans in the House have been a hallmark of a year of chaos in the GOP-led House.

“House Republicans are failing American families as critical issues go unaddressed and our national security hangs in the balance. MAGA Republicans' relentless pursuit of their radical, extremist agenda is costing us time and money.

“CRs are no way to govern, but today’s vote was critical to avoid unnecessary economic pain and harm to Florida families. I encourage my Republican colleagues to put their partisan and costly shenanigans aside and stop kicking the can down the road. I hope this is the last time we will have to extend funding deadlines the House Republican Majority continues failing to meet.

“House Democrats continue to stand ready to work with House Republicans to pass all government funding bills that reflect the framework they committed to in June of last year with the Bipartisan Fiscal Responsibility Act.”
