Dear friend,Important new bipartisan legislation to lower costs, boost “Made in America” industries and give American workers the competitive edge is on its way to President Biden’s desk: the CHIPS and Science Act will expand capacity to manufacture semiconductors domestically. Semiconductor chips are critical to the cars we drive, medical devices, phones, appliances and more. Our aim is to diminish dependence on foreign manufacturers and turbocharge American innovation. This is a major victory for Tampa Bay area families, small businesses, our bustling defense industry and the local economy. To power our lives, we need to make semiconductor chips in America and not rely on foreign sources. Good-paying American union jobs will help ensure that America maintains a competitive edge by turbocharging our production of semiconductors. The House is also taking action to reinstate the assault weapon ban. Our bill would prohibit the sale, manufacture, transfer or possession of semiautomatic assault weapons and high capacity magazines. By banning assault weapons, we can reduce crime in our communities, keep weapons of war out of the hands of those who shouldn’t have them, and keep our kids safe. These votes are the latest steps forward in House Democrats’ fight to put people over politics, and we remain laser-focused on creating jobs, keeping our communities safe, growing wages and slashing costs.
Representative Kathy Castor

Dear friend,

Important new bipartisan legislation to lower costs, boost “Made in America” industries and give American workers the competitive edge is on its way to President Biden’s desk: the CHIPS and Science Act will expand capacity to manufacture semiconductors domestically.
