Open Enrollment for affordable, reliable health care coverage runs through December 15. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, many neighbors can find plans for less than $10 a month with an average savings of $800 or more a year! Floridians have many choices and plans are popular. I had a spooktacular time visiting with children and families at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital on Halloween. In Congress, I am working to expand and invest in high-quality, affordable pediatric care for our youngest neighbors.

Educators across the Tampa Bay area are extraordinarily committed to students success including Rafael Robinson, a second-grade teacher at Douglas Jamerson Elementary School, who is the Florida Association of Science Teachers’ (FAST’s) Outstanding Science Educator of the year. Congratulations Mr. Robinson. You make all of us and Pinellas County Schools proud!

On the heels of President Biden’s funding request to Congress to keep high quality preschools available and affordable, the Pinellas Early Learning Coalition shared the many challenges of working parents. The 0-3 years are the most important for brain development and provide the foundation for school readiness and success in life.

St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch, local partners and I are championing a $1.2M Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods U.S. Department of Transportation federal grant! We seek to better connect South St. Petersburg neighborhoods that were separated by the construction of I-75 to downtown. We envision more cohesive neighborhoods with expanded walkability, small business growth and affordable housing options.

H.R. 6126 – Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024 - In a maneuver that harms America’s national security, Republicans stalled swift passage of security assistance to Israel and Ukraine and immorally excluded humanitarian aid for innocent Palestinians who are used as human shields by Hamas terrorists. The GOP bill also sought to shield rich tax cheats in move that would have increased the federal deficit.

|
H.R. 4821 – Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2024 –The GOP spending bill guts environmental protection and clean energy, and encourages oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. I voted “no”.
