The National Hurricane Center recommends having the following:

  1. Water: At least 1 gallon of water per person/animal per day for at least 3 days.
  2. Food: At least a 3-day supply of non-perishable food.
  3. Radio: A battery-powered radio with NOAA weather radio tone alert and extra batteries.
  4. Flashlight: With extra batteries.
  5. First Aid Kit
  6. Manual Can Opener
  7. Cell Phone: Make sure you have extra battery packs or a solar charger to keep your phone on.
  8. Prescription Medications
  9. Glasses
  10. Cash
  11. Important family documents: Make sure you have copies of insurance policies and some form of state-issued ID.
  12. Sturdy shoes: Rain boots and sneakers.
  13. Pet supplies: If you have a pet, they will need enough food and water to weather out the storm with you.
