This week my Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee discussed the importance of American leadership in manufacturing. The historic CHIPS and Science Act, Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act took an intentional approach to our needs here at home in America.
The CHIPS and Science Act delivered a powerful investment into America’s global competitiveness – creating jobs, lowering costs for hardworking families, ending dependence on foreign manufacturers and turbocharging American innovation. The Infrastructure Law was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that created millions of good-paying union jobs while bringing our infrastructure into the 21st century. And the Inflation Reduction Action was a historic undertaking that is putting money back in people’s pocketbooks, creating jobs and empowering us to address the climate emergency and protect access to affordable health coverage.
You’ll notice a theme here – good-paying work opportunities here at home in America. The current Administration would be wise to lean into former President Biden’s mission and invest in our nation’s workforce.
