Press Release

WASHINGTON (November 30, 2022) – On Wednesday, Chair Kathy Castor and the Democratic members of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Majority Whip James Clyburn, and Natural Resources Committee Chair Raul Grijalva urging passage of the Environmental Justice for All Act before the end of the 117th Congress to honor the legacy of their late colleague Rep. Donald McEachin.

"Congressman McEachin and House Committee on Natural Resources Chair Raúl Grijalva led a historic movement in the Congress to bring new voices into the legislative process, listening directly to the needs of communities of color, Tribes, low-income communities, and other vulnerable Americans. This movement brought us the community-led Environmental Justice for All Act (H.R. 2021), a comprehensive bill that would combat environmental injustice and empower communities across the United States, making sure they reap the benefits of the clean energy economy," the letter reads.

"This bill, sponsored by 108 Members of Congress, was marked up and reported favorably from the Natural Resources Committee on July 27. We urge the House of Representatives to pass the Environmental Justice for All Act before the end of the 117th Congress to honor Donald’s legacy and empower vulnerable communities across the United States."
