Statement by Rep. Kathy Castor, Chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis
WASHINGTON (July 23, 2019) – Reps. Frank Pallone, Paul Tonko and Bobby Rush announced plans to dramatically cut carbon pollution to net-zero by 2050 today. Below is a statement from Rep. Kathy Castor, chair of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis:
“A 100 percent clean energy economy is the central pillar for any serious climate plan and it’s a goal we share. This is the kind of climate action we are working to deliver.

About the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis: The committee includes members who serve on multiple committees of jurisdiction, including Energy and Commerce, Natural Resources, Transportation and Infrastructure, Science, and others. Rep. Castor serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and Chairs the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, which is slated to make policy recommendations that help solve the climate crisis in March 2020. Since the start of this Congress, House committees have held more than 60 hearings related to the climate crisis.
