House Climate Crisis Committee Names Aaron Huertas Communications Director

WASHINGTON (April 1, 2019) - The U.S. House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis has hired Aaron Huertas as its communications director. 
 
Huertas previously worked for the Union of Concerned Scientists, a leading science advocacy group, where he promoted fuel economy legislation and protected scientists from politicized attacks on their research. He also served as Washington director for Cater Communications, a bipartisan clean energy firm based in San Rafael, California. In 2016, he ran a field office for NextGen America in Athens, Ohio, where he worked with students to register and mobilize thousands of voters.
 
Most recently, Huertas served as the strategic communications director for Swing Left, a grassroots group that connects volunteers to Democratic campaigns in the most competitive elections. 
 
Huertas is originally from Forked River, New Jersey and is a graduate of George Washington University, where he studied political communication and mass media. You can find him @aaronhuertas on Twitter.
