WASHINGTON (May 31, 2022) – Chair Kathy Castor of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis released the following statement on Tuesday after the Biden Administration announced the Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange, a new Bipartisan Infrastructure Law initiative to connect more clean energy to the grid:

"Lowering interconnection costs and bringing more of America’s abundant and affordable renewable energy online is key to tackling the climate crisis," said Chair Castor. "I applaud Secretary Granholm’s leadership in launching the Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange (i2X), a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law initiative that will bring together state and tribal governments, grid operators, clean energy developers, utilities, and energy justice advocates to achieve these goals. Now Congress must keep working to build on these cost-saving investments and initiatives, so we can put money back in the pockets of working Americans. My Efficient Grid Interconnection Act would take the next step to reduce costly transmission congestion, helping eliminate more of the barriers that stand in the way of cheaper, cleaner energy. I’m excited to keep working together with the Biden Administration on practical solutions that meet the urgency of the moment and drive energy costs down."
