Castor Moves the Climate Action Now Act Through the Energy and Commerce Committee as She Welcomes Young Leaders to First Hearing of Climate Crisis Committee

The House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced H.R 9 today, the Climate Action Now Act, a bill from U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor (FL14), that would prevent President Trump from withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement and also require the Trump administration to report on U.S. progress toward meeting its commitments under the agreement.

Earlier today, Castor chaired the first hearing for the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, which focused on youth leaders who are on the front lines of climate change.

“Young people all over the world are rising to the occasion when it comes to solving the climate crisis,” Castor said.  “We need to rise with them.  That starts with making sure we honor our commitment to cut dangerous carbon pollution.”

Members of the Select Committee serve on several committees of jurisdiction that work on climate-related policy, including Energy and Commerce, Natural Resources, Science, and Transportation and Infrastructure.
