Published: 9/16/2008 During debate on the House floor, Castor described the bill as a “balanced energy initiative” that diversifies the country’s energy portfolio and meets the needs of her neighbors socked by the high price of gas at the pumps. Castor also recognized that the transition away from Middle Eastern oil will reduce excessive entanglements in the Middle East that can lead to disastrous consequences like the Bush Administrations invasion of Iraq
