Dale Mabry/Henderson/Neptune Stormwater Drainage Improvements |
City of Tampa |
This project is a valuable use of taxpayer dollars because it will provide flood protection to a state/federal roadway (US92/S.R. 600), a major hurricane evacuation route as well as a major thoroughfare for the regional economy. This project will also incorporate a water quality component to improve stormwater discharge to Tampa Bay, and will also help to create an estimated 330 jobs over the life of the project. |

Florida Manatee Rehabilitation and Care |
Lowry Park Zoo, non-profit |
This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it supports ongoing efforts at The David A. Straz, Jr. Manatee Hospital at Lowry Park Zoo to conserve and restore endangered manatee. To date, Lowry Park Zoo has received more than 219 manatees for rehabilitation and released more than 116. If a manatee survives the first 48 hours at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, it has an 85% chance of being released back into the wild. |
